I always figured that it would be Ryder to have the first fracture limb out of all of our kids - so glad to know that I was correct on that assumption.
Truth is, we really have no idea how it happened. Ezra and Ryder were playing downstairs - lightly wrestling - when Ryder just up and started to scream...and wouldn't stop crying. And as any normal parent (or not normal I suppose depending on how you look at it) - we assumed that he was just fine and milking it for all it was worth. We kept telling him that he was fine and could stop crying. A few hours later, we noticed (after my mom pointed it out) that indeed his hand did not look right. A trip to emergency, an x-ray, and a doctor confirmed that indeed there was a hairline fracture in his hand. A splint was put on, a little boy that milked the whole week afterwards (he decided that he needed to be carried everywhere, that he needed to be fed, it was literally like having a newborn again :) ), and on Christmas Eve it was taken off. At times, he will still favour the arm, but overall it has been a complete recovery.
Christmas Eve Day - just before we saw the doctor to have it taken off.
