Release of the Butterflies!

I purchased a butterfly raising kit from Education Station in Edmonton at the end of May.  

Our caterpillars arrived near the end of May via Canada Post.  They stayed in this container until they had all crystallized (took close to 2 weeks).  From there, we moved the white filter very carefully and hung it in the butterfly habitat.  Close to 2 weeks later, our first butterfly emerged and within days we had 9 butterflies.  It truly was such a fun experience to do with the kids!  I will order again next year!

This butterfly didn't make it to the release day but the kids loved looking at the underneath part of the butterfly.  

The kids most favourite part was that the butterflies would land and crawl on them.  Completely a highlight!
